WMH was selected by SFCTA to prepare Seismic Strategy Reports, Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Documents (PA&ED), and Final Design (PS&E) for the retrofit and/or replacement of nine bridges along Treasure Island Road on Yerba Buena Island (YBI).
The Project is located on a very steep hillside above the San Francisco Bay with challenging geological conditions and environmental sensitivities, resulting in a very complex construction project. As such the Project is utilizing the Construction Manager / General Contractor (CMGC) method of Project delivery.
The Project includes the realignment of the E/B I-80 off-ramp from the I-80 San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (SFOBB), bent reconstruction and seismic retrofit of I-80 W/B on-ramp to the SFOBB; realignment of Treasure Island Road; new undercrossing structure; six new retaining walls up to 40-feet tall and 1,200-feet long – wall types included tieback, soil nail, soldier pile and Type 1; demolition of eight (8) bridges; and Treasure Island Mobility Management Agency (TIMMA) tolling facilities.
