The Milpitas BART Station Campus is a part of the overall Silicon Valley BART Extension (SVBX) Project. The SVBX Project is a 10-mile extension of BART service from the City of Fremont to the City of San Jose. This station is located in the heart of Milpitas' Transit Area and will be the BART system's gateway to Silicon Valley. It will serve as a key local and regional connection to the high-tech, job-rich northwestern areas of Santa Clara County. The trackway extension of the BART line is being performed by a Design-Build Team. The WMH team is responsible for the design of campus improvements and parking facilities at the new station in Milpitas.
Design elements of the Milpitas BART Station Campus include a multi-story parking structure; state-of-the-art ITS elements; surface parking lots; bus, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities; coordination with the adjacent design-build contract and team members; interfaces with rail station features; water quality treatment and improvements; lighting; traffic signals; and landscaping. Sustainable 'green' elements are incorporated into the design.
WMH is responsible for project management of a large multi-disciplinary team and preparation of bid documents under an accelerated schedule with construction activities that started in the spring of 2015. Once the station is opened, riders can travel to San Francisco in less than 1 hour.
