Mid-Coast Corridor Transit Project

The Project extends Trolley service (light rail) from the Santa Fe Depot in Downtown San Diego north to the University City community, serving major destinations including Old Town, the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and Westfield University Town Center (UTC). Nine new stations are proposed as part of the project and many street improvements are necessary throughout the corridor to provide space to construct the new stations and light rail.

In support of the overall project, WMH designed Street Improvements for Segment 1, Segment 2, and Segment 3 to mitigate rail impacts at Rosecrans/ Pacific Highway, Friars Road, four locations along Morena Boulevard, La Jolla Colony Drive, and Northbound Interstate 5 (I-5). WMH provided integrated grading between the track and street improvements to reduce street impacts and associated costs; developed spreadsheet to back-check In Roads output of track alignment and earthwork, and designed specialized civil improvements for signal upgrades South of Taylor Street to minimize impacts to existing features and keep signal elements within the existing track right-of-way.
